Paid work experience opportunity - admin and rehearsal support

We are looking for someone to work with us, supporting a new production ‘Siyanda, Protector of Plants’, a walkabout performance at Kew Gardens. Using live music and puppetry, the piece will bring to life the story of the magnificent Temperate House (the world’s largest surviving Victorian glasshouse) and its precious plants. We are working with two casts who will be performing 4-5 shows a day for 9 days.

The role would involve 2 days in the Theatre-Rites’ office and then support during rehearsals and for the run.  You will support the two casts to set up the show in the morning, pack it away at the end of the day, and also re-set the show with the cast at the beginning of each new show, throughout the day. This might involve putting props in the right place and helping to ensure the performers are ready at the start of each show.

This is a paid work experience placement and we are specifically looking to offer this opportunity to:

  • a young person (over 21) who would benefit from the experience of working with a professional theatre company OR
  • somebody of any age (over 21) looking to change their career.

An ideal candidate would be someone who hasn’t studied at university but is interested in a career in stage management, technical theatre or arts administration.

We are very happy to work with someone with little or no professional experience, we’d just need to be confident that you would turn up on time each day, be ready to get stuck in, and be an exemplary and enthusiastic representative of the company.
